Veteran’s Advisory Panel Meeting with Senator Lee Zeldin: On September 27, Allyson and Kate from New Beginnings attended a meeting with Senator Lee Zeldin as members of the John P Jennings Veterans’ Advisory Panel. The meeting was to discuss the goals of the Joseph Dwyer legislation which is to expand public awareness of and access to PTSD programs and services available to veterans and their families in New York State. Senator Zeldin is great supporter of New Beginnings’ cause and offered exciting news that he will be working with New Beginnings in the upcoming months to write new legislation aimed to increase the funding and awareness of the programs and services like those of New Beginnings, that are available to Veterans. In addition, the legislation will promote the distribution of materials regarding awareness and available programs throughout New York.

3rd Annual Veteran's Day Gala: This November, New Beginnings will be hosting our 3rd Annual Veteran’s Day Gala. The Gala will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 7pm at Leonard’s of Great Neck. (555 Northern Boulevard, Great Neck, NY 11021). We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Gala honorees are Jim and Carol Dunne. We are asking for your support of New Beginnings and our 2011 honorees at this year’s Gala. It’s a 1970’s themed event with raffles, auctions, disco dancers and much more. We are also very pleased to announce that the very well known That 70’s Band will be performing. This is an event you do not want to miss! Tickets for this event are $175, with discounts for tables of ten or more. If you can’t attend this year’s Gala, you can still show your support by purchasing an ad in the Gala journal. Congratulations to Allyson and Kate!: Allyson and Kate were recently honored as Citizens Bank Citizens of the Week and were featured on News 12 Long Island. Citizen's Bank recognizes individuals who help to make Long Island a better place to live while engaged in volunteer work for a non-profit organization. Grand Opening Press Coverage: Check out the Article "Center To Serve People With Brain Injuries" a wonderful write up about New Beginnings which was featured in Long Island's Newsday on April 17th. The Article cited the features and services provided at New Beginnings and quoted attendees of the celebration including Mr.Tom Archer and Mr. Bobby Schindler. Additionally, to view some photos of the event the South Shore Press published an article "Celebrating New Beginnings" which featured an array of photos taken throughout the day.

Grand Opening Celebration April 17th: New Beginnings is opening its doors Sunday, April 17! Please join us for an afternoon of entertainment, great food, and special guests. The celebration will begin at 1 pm and will be an excellent opportunity to tour our new building and meet the providers! 4th Annual "Walk for Peace of Mind": New Beginnings is pleased to announce our 4th Annual "Walk for Peace of Mind" set for Saturday June 11, 2011 at the Holtsville Ecology Center (249 Buckley Road) from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. This is sure to be "The Greatest Show on Earth." Join New Beginnings Community Center for a "FUN" filled day of live music, carnival games, face painting, raffles, prizes, and more! The purpose of the "Walk" is not only to raise awareness to traumatic brain injury, but to "CELEBRATE" the exciting news that New Beginnings has been up and running for 3 months and serving the TBI Community with all its much needed resources.
